In your bag 1776 – John Scott
John Scott is another repeat ‘In Your Bag-er’, having been on the site not once, but twice, in 2019 and 2020. Now he is back with another very stylish setup. Check it out.
I hope you’re doing well! It’s been a while since my last feature, and I wanted to share my latest 2025 camera bag setup. Some things have remained unchanged, but there have also been some exciting additions.
What’s in My Bag – 2025 Edition
Some staples have stayed with me over the years:
• My deck of playing cards (essential for downtime)
• My SD-CF card holder (because backups are a must)
• My carbon fiber knife (updated version)
• My Apple iPad & Pencil for sketching concepts on the go
• My trusty black bag (technically a new one, but similar to my past setups)

The Cameras
📸 Leica Q – This remains an absolute staple in my kit. No matter what else comes and goes, the Q stays. The compact full-frame setup, stunning Summilux lens, and its simple yet powerful design make it a daily driver for me.
📸 Nikon ZF – A new addition (or rather, two). I picked up two Nikon ZF bodies, and I’m absolutely loving the retro design and modern capabilities. It’s my go-to for both stills and video.
📸 Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 – This is my time capsule camera. I only shoot 3-4 frames a year, capturing key life moments. My idea? One day, when I’m long gone, my kids or grandkids can develop the roll and see a time capsule of decades worth of images.
The Lenses
🔹 Nikon 40mm F2 – A fantastic all-purpose lens, compact and sharp.
🔹 Nikon 28-400mm F4-8 – The ultimate travel zoom. Insane range, surprisingly sharp.
🔹 Nikon 26mm F2.8 – My favorite walkaround pancake lens. Small, lightweight, and fantastic for street photography.
🔹 Nikon 16-50mm DX Crop Lens – A tiny throw-around lens, but surprisingly useful.
Accessories & Miscellaneous Gear
• DJI Osmo Pocket 3 – My go-to vlogging & travel video camera (not pictured, but always in my bag).
• 3x Nikon ZF batteries + 2x SmallRig batteries – Because power is everything.
• Survival pen + carbon fiber knife – A lightweight but solid EDC setup.
• Packet of matches – You never know when you’ll need to light a birthday candle (or an urban wilderness fire… kidding).
• Samsonite sling bag – My latest compact carry solution.
Final Thoughts
Not a huge amount of changes since my last submission, but some refinements and streamlining to fit my hybrid photography + video workflow. I’m really embracing a minimal but functional setup that allows me to shoot, create, and document without carrying excess gear.

Thanks for sharing your bag with us again. That is a solid setup.
Keep them coming folks, we need more submissions, so get your bag on Japancamerahunter.com
Send me a high resolution image of the bag. Optimum size is 1500px across. Please ensure there is a bag in the shot, unless you don’t use one. The more you can write about yourself the better, make it appealing and tell us a story. Snapshots of your gear with a camera phone and no words will not be featured.
Oh and don’t forget your contact details (twitter, flickr, tumbler et al). Send the bag shots here. Please understand that there is a long wait now as there is a backlog of submissions. Not all make the cut, so make sure yours is funny/interesting/quirky. And please make sure the shot is of good quality, as the ones that are not do not go up.
Cheers
