PHOTOGRAPHY ZINES AND BOOKS NO: 60

Hawaii Days/ Hong Kong Nights by Nehu Evans & Jonny Dub

Who?

Native Hawaiian street photographer Nehu Evans & Tokyo based street photographer Jonny Dub.

What?

The two have teamed up presenting complimentary yet contrasting work, as the title suggests, in Hawaii during the day time and Hong Kong at night. It is 50 pages of analog photography!

Why?

Collaborations are always fun and the working concept for it justifies each other. One of the noticeable difference, again adding to the contrast, is both the familiary and distance with which the photos are taken. Whereas Nehu shoots his home area of Wakiki, Jonny shoots Hong Kong while on vacation. He writes of taking inspiration from Fan Ho and the Shaw Brothers films, there is a noticeable distance in his work that comes with travel photos that contrasts well against Nehu’s work.
