My favourite finds Pt.3
Ha ha, I suddenly realised that I hadn’t put up a follow up to this piece. There have been so many good cameras and things that I have kind of lost track. So here are a few memorable finds for me this year, there have been many more, but these are just some of them.

I like finding all cameras, the big and the small, and not just cameras. I have found everything from lenses, accessories right across to limited edition Japanese market only Playstation’s (different strokes and all that).

The Canonet QL17 GIII Black Paint Japan

I find these cameras from time to time (though never even near enough to keep everyone happy), and they are always lovely. But this one was a bit special. It was absolutely flawless, in the original box and with everything working. It was like a time capsule. Which is one of my favourite things about buying in Japan, that you can find cameras that have basically never been used. The funny thing was, I found another almost identical one about a week later. It never rains but it pours (I kept the second one for myself, you never know when I will find another).

Nikon SP 2005 Black

This is not an especially rare camera in many respects, but it is an exceptionally cool camera. A stunning black paint rangefinder based on the original SP, but made in 2005 and sold by lottery in Japan only. It is gorgeous and has become very expensive in recent times, so it is always a pleasure when I am asked to find something like this for a client. This is definitely one that I wanted to keep.

Olympus OM-4Ti lens set

What I liked about this set was not only the camera, which is fabulous. But the fact that the client wanted lenses to go with it. I found them the camera and the right lenses for them. It was a bit of a process but we got there in the end. It is really cool when I am able to set someone up with a complete system.

Leica MP-3 LHSA set

This one was cool because I rarely see the full set. I see the bodies, I see the lenses, but the full set, untouched and completely as new is not a common occurrence. This one popped up just at the right time as the client had just asked about the availability of a set. Serendipity I guess. A stunning camera and from what I am told, is being given some milage too, not just sitting in a display case.

Nikon ‘Nocf’ 58mm 1.2

This one will stick in my mind forever, as it was just total luck that I managed to find a perfect condition ‘nocf’, yes that is correct a Nocf and not a Noct. There were few of these that actually made it out to the general public, so it was a very satisfying item to source. Another one off the JCH checklist.

This is just a tiny look at some of the items I have sourced recently. And it is not just limited to cameras and lenses. I will find watches and all sorts (not weird anime stuff though, I am not really into that). All you need to do is click here and fill out the form and tell me what you would like.

I love my job. Seriously, I really love it.

Would love to own one of the Canonette GIII 17 cameras in either the black (awesome) or the standard body. I just love the basic beauty of them and that they’d work for everyday film photography.
Ha! I think anyone who visits your site would love your job too.
The “what’s in my bag” section is so inspiring and shows a real love of cameras and photography.

Cannonet is getting rearar these days and also more pricy.very high rating and recommendation on blogs and YouTube is behind the hype. But it’s a real jem if you want a nifty RF.I like the QL feature of them. Also some should consider Minolta and Ricoh offering as well.
