Dust magazine – Ritual Odyssey
Recently I was contacted by the Irwin Lewis at Dust mag to put my work in the upcoming issue. I was unsure at first as I rarely put my work out anywhere, but these guys seemed to have a real passion and when they told me some of the other photographers involved I decided to be a part of it. And I am glad I did.
DUST MAG is a photo zine self published in San Francisco that stared in 2008. Their mission is to help photographers  get their work out there and inspire other photographer/artists. Dust only accept black&white film because they want to let people know that film is still around and that people still shoot in film. They don’t have any rights to our contributors photos and it is free to submit. We accept all different types of photography from doc, street, fine art, or fashion. Whatever the style is, as long as its in b/w film.

Irwin asked me to be in the magazine and after I had checked out some of the other photographers involved (
Emilio Bañuelos, Joe Aguirre, Ben Molina and Theo Slavin, all whose work I admire) I decided that I would like to be a part of this cool concept.

The layout is simple and direct. I am particularly impressed by the continuity of the images. The editing has be thoughtfully handled so that the narrative runs well throughout the zine. I am not going to post all of the pictures featured, that would spoil it for you. But if you follow the links I am sure you can get a copy for yourself.

It is a zine, so it is not on fancy printed paper, or hardback bound. This is a fresh and simple mag, stapled together and made for the pure passion of it. I loved being involved with this and I only wish that I had been able to make it to the gallery opening that was held in San Francisco. That would have been awesome.

It is great to see my work in a magazine and when I got them in the post I was very happy with the result. To have my work next to those that I admire really is a morale boost for me with regards to my photography.

It is also great to see the work of other photographers that I was not familiar with. I have found some new people whose work I will be following. This is such a nice concept, and I am happy to be a part of it.

Please go and show your support and check out the mag. I am looking forward to future issues and I know that this mag is going to grow in popularity. Get it before all of the hipsters do.
Check out the links to their face book and site. If you want a copy you can get in touch with Irwin and the guys through FB and they should be able to help you out. I know they they now have these zines all over the world.

Thanks to Irwin for having me in the mag (and for convincing me to join in), I really appreciate the feature. I love what you are doing and I think a lot of other people will too.

Cheers
