Jesse’s Visual Interviews: Mai Tanaka
The visual interview series returns this time with our first female photographer Mai Tanaka, a 2017 Nikon Salon winner. Check out her beautiful responses.

Q1: What is your favorite way to waste money?

Q2: What do you consider the most underrated virtue?

Q3: When are you happiest?

Q4: What did your first kiss feel like?

Q5: Where is home?

Q6: Which body parts (yours or otherwise) do you feel the most affection for?

Q7: What is your favorite vice?

Q8: How do you define childthood?

Q9: What is your favorite time of day?

Q10: Who is your favorite person?

Q11: What is the most important thing in any relationship?

Thank you Mai for the responses!

Sadly, I noticed I hadn’t done a visual interview featuring a female photographer which is just wrong. Happy to have Mai do this, I met her in 2010 around when I started getting into photography and have since progressed. We both have lost Nikon Salon in the past but she won Nikon Salon this year! Nikon Salon is essentially the first most challenging step to enter the photography scene here. I just love her photos for their honest intimacy…
