In your bag 984, Rogerrebel
Rogerrebel shares his summer bag with us today. A nice mix of film and digital for the modern man about town. Check it out.
My name is Rogerrebel and I am based in London, working in the financial sector. Among other interests I pursue photography and over the last year I became obsessed with film.
I am about to leave for the long-awaited holidays and I am happy to share with you my summer set up.
When I walk around taking pictures I don’t carry a bag with me, I just bring the camera and some film in my pocket. However, when I travel, I carry a backpack full of gear!
Since I couldn’t find a bag that satisfied my requirements I decided to “create” my own bag. In the picture you can see my Patagonia backpack filled with a Billingham insert. This is the perfect combination for protecting my gear (in an organised way), leaving enough space in the bag for carrying other things.
This summer I will carry with me:
Leica M2
Summicron 35mm ASPH
Canon 6D
Canon 35mm and 50mm lenses
Battery and charger
Sekonic L-308s
Filers
Microfiber cloth
Shutter release cable
Rocket blower
Film
My preferred subjects are street photography, landscapes and travel reportages.
I mostly shoot B&W film but I recently acquired some Kodak Portra 400.
I hope to inspire someone and that readers have enjoyed!

Thanks for sharing your bag, RR. The dive mask really makes it.
Check out the links and make sure you come and comment.
Keep them coming folks, we need more submissions, so get your bag on Japancamerahunter.com. Send me a hi resolution image of the bag (please make sure it is horizontal) and its contents, with some details about yourself and what you shoot. Oh and don’t forget your contact details (twitter, flickr, tumbler et al). Send the bag shots here. Please understand that there is a long wait now as there is a backlog of submissions. Not all make the cut, so make sure yours is funny/interesting/quirky. And please make sure the shot is of good quality, as the ones that are not do not go up.
Cheers

Thanks for sharing Rogerrebel’s bag. I’m going on a photo workshop ins couple of months and am considering some sort of backpack. I already have a Hadley Pro that carries my Leica M-E and a couple lenses and can use that insert in a bag as Rogerrebel is doing. Plus I will be carrying a tripod and bringing my 15″ MacBook Pro too.
It seems most of the commercial bags are all designed to fit the big DSLR kits and just appear to be overkill for my small setup. Be interesting to see what others might have to say.
Duane, I have more bags incuding backpacks than I care to admit. I have backpacks from tamrac, lowepro, manfrotto and others. Over time i have gravitated toward non photo backpacks for several reasons. Firstly then tend not to attract attention. Secondly if necessary one can usually fit more equipment inside than a dedicated photo backpack. I have several crumpler inserts that nicely protect whatever I care to bring……micro 4/3, rangefinders, DSLRs or even medium format equipment. The bags can also fit 4×5 equipment. My favorite bags at present include a 5.11 military style backpack which can carry equipment , ipad and tripod, but when I really need to carry gear I bring my north face solaris 40 liter pack. I used this to travel in europe with multiple inserts and 4 cameras. Worked perfectly, albeit not the lightest as you can imagine.
Cool, cool. One little question. Which camera goes along with your snorkel mask? ;-)
