Jesse’s Visual Interviews: John Roche

This week’s edition of Jesse’s Visual Interview brings us to ponder the profoundly pretty polaroid posts of John Roche.

Q1: Who are you?

Q2: What is your favorite way to waste money?

Q3: What do you consider the most underrated virtue?

Q4: When are you happiest?

Q5: What did your first kiss feel like?

Q6: Where is home?

Q7: Which body parts (yours or otherwise) do you feel the most affection for?

Q8: What is your favorite vice?

Q9: How do you define childhood?

Q10: What is your favorite time of day?

Q11: Who is your favorite person?

Q12: What is the most important thing in any relationship?

Thank you for your responses, John!

Me and John worked for the same company in Japan back in 2007 and always liked his polaroids! But more so the sensitivity he observes his subjects with. I recall missing a trip to go with him and some other friends of ours to shoot an abandoned town (haikyo) south of Tokyo. Everyone came back with more or less what you would expect, but John’s photos concerned themselves with the way light would fall on a wall in a room or the texture of a curtain and it was that attention to these everyday details that he captures so beautifully that I hoped would be replicated here for you all.
