In your bag No: 1428, Derek McClure
Derek shares with us a very fancy bag today. Cool cameras and some very well considered accessories. This one has everything a street shooter might need. Check it out.

My name is Derek McClure and I’m a part time Art teacher and freelance photographer in Adelaide South Australia. I’ve been interested in film photography for a number of years experimenting with large and medium format. I love my RB67 and 5×4” MPP but find the bulk and set up so time consuming. 35mm never really captivated me earlier on as it still felt too similar to my digital cameras which I use for Weddings, Commercial and Corporate work, well, not until I was allured with the mystique of the Leica system.

At first I was convinced that the bloated price and general online hype was just a marketing scam, and that the Leica’s wouldn’t offer anything different to my film experience, until I tried one. Once I picked up an M7 in the store I was sold immediately, and so was the M7, tucked away in my bag. Since then I have added to my humble collection an M3 and a cool little Barnack Leica iiib.

Perhaps the coolest thing for me shooting with the Leica’s is just how involved I am in the overall photography process again. I studied Jazz at Uni a number of years ago and for me, analogue photography combines the improvisation and craft of playing music with the creative eye of composition and expression of my Art degree. Every time I walk the streets with my cameras I feel as though I’m composing a new tune with images. I know, it sounds a bit nerd.. I find that being a tourist in my own town helps me to relax and inspires me to see new things in the familiar, added to that the Leica’s are perfect for me to do Street Photography, which is a departure from the photography I get hired to do.

Anyway, so what’s in the bag..
