Camera Geekery: Skyllaney Opto-Mechanics
We are very proud to announce that JCH has partnered up with Skyllaney Opto-Mechanics from the U.K. to start selling their fantastic lens conversions. They will be available in limited amounts directly on the site here. We are now the official distributor for Skyllaney Opto-Mechanics in the Asia region.
Skyllaney
If you are not familiar with Skyllaney’s work, then let this be your introduction. Based in the U.K. They work to produce the highest quality lens conversions, using their own machined parts from either brass or aerospace aluminium. Think of them as the MS Optics of the U.K. The goal is that the converted lens lasts decades without needing a service. They have their own machine shop so they can make every part they need in house.
In their own words “Our goal is to become a designer and manufacturer of limited-edition boutique lenses in Europe, but also servicing customers beyond the European market with our repair, conversion, servicing and custom engineering/fabrication abilities”.
Zeiss
With a strong focus on Zeiss glass, Skyllaney has been busily converting classic lenses to be used on Leica rangefinders. They have gained a bit of a cult reputation for extremely high quality conversions using famed lenses. Skyllaney have also announced they will be producing their own lens in the next year, the Bertele 50mm Sonnar, a modern recreation of a classic Sonnar lens designed by Dr. Ludwig Bertele. We hope to have the Bertele lens available for our customers in 2021.

Thank you so much, this is a great news for this end of the year.
I am very happy to know you work with them.
I know that also if you write a review about we will be able to ask questions which will be published like in normal websites (like good websites : casualphotophile, emulsive …).
I am very interesting by they work, and we are in a world where we must keep possibility to ask, to talk, to say opinions, despite some will do not want … this one of the reeason I like your work and I follow you since many years. Today one more time you put a sun into my heart.
I thank you one more time. This is European work, like Japanese work, or Korean, it is made well, seriously, yes of course it is expensive, but they used free skilled persons and workers, this one of the reason I only buy things from : Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North America, … to trade in this world prices are not the most important : values, manors, respect, behaviours, ideals, respect of all rules … So this is the reason also, when we buy a gear from you : of course it is a little more expensive but you have sourced it and checked it very well !!! There is a real price for serious pro, not only sale persons who would like that all the world buy they dangerous things …
Thanks to know that this great UK artist and maker is on your side.
SKYLLANEY, looks way more serious than MS. I must say that I had quite a bad experience with MS adapter for Voighlander Prominent Norton. Quite unprofessional, I would say wannabe “Kraft” and too expensive for what it is. Sold it, loosing money…
I read about Skyllaney on a different blog and did purchase a 50mm Planar from them. Really pleased with the lens and the whole experience.
