In your bag 871, Jake Cremer
Young Jake has a pretty simple but very sweet set up for us all to drool over. Check it out.
Hello, my name is Jake Cremer. I’m a 20 year old student from rural South Australia.
I’m at the tail end of some serious gear acquisition silliness. At least 200 cameras came into my possession throughout 2013. I considered myself a collector… Sometime during December I came to the realization that all of this gear was distracting me from what I truly wanted to achieve with photography – so I got rid of almost all of it.
I’ve now settled down with the kit you’ll see here.
Primary Camera: Nikon F5 w/ 50mm f1.8 AF-D
There’s not much to say about this camera, other than it’s everything I need and more. I love it. My F5 is to me like a .45 revolver is to an outlaw of the old west.
Primary Lens: Nikkor 50mm f1.8 AF-D
Until recently I used manual focus lenses with my F5, but poor eyesight has pushed me to use their newer AF counterparts. My only complaint would be that the build quality is fairly average. It has taken my abuse in its stride, though, and if it happens to break they are very inexpensive to replace.
Secondary Camera: Ricoh GR (V)
I like to have a digital camera with me – just in case. I shoot roughly 80% film and 20% digital. This is an excellent little camera. To improve ergonomics I’ve added a shoe-mounted thumb rest designed for the Contax G2 to it. It works great.
Backpack: Mission Workshop Arkiv R6 (40L)
A little pricey, but any backpack with this level of resistance to the elements will be. It does its job and it does it well.
I also carry a Gorillapod as well as a bunch of the usual things (film stash, batteries, chargers).
Thanks for taking a look at my stuff. Hopefully this has been interesting or helpful to someone.

Keep them coming folks, we need more submissions, so get your bag on Japancamerahunter.com. Send me a hi resolution image of the bag (please make sure it is horizontal) and its contents, with some details about yourself and what you shoot. Oh and don’t forget your contact details (twitter, flickr, tumbler et al). Send the bag shots here. Please understand that there is a long wait now as there is a backlog of submissions. Not all make the cut, so make sure yours is funny/interesting/quirky. And please make sure the shot is of good quality, as the ones that are not do not go up.
