In your bag No: 467 – Anthony Frattaroli

In your bag 467, Anthony Frattaroli
Anthony runs a camera store, he also has a love of MS-Optical lenses. Just like me then. Today we get the chance to see inside the bag of someone who can have any camera they choose. And what did Anthony choose? Check it out.

My name is Anthony Frattaroli and I run a camera store in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

I see strange and wonderful equipment come and go every day, so I’ve had a chance to try a little bit of everything. We work with cameras from large format to subminiature, from the oldest plate cameras to the newest DSLRs, and our rental business dips into the video waters. It’s a blast, and the best part of the whole deal is that I get to mess around with all of it.

But when I go out shooting, I try to keep it simple. It keeps me thinking, and it keeps me honest. And I never have to worry about batteries.

In the bag:

Leica M3 DS

Voigtlander 12mm f5.6 Ultra-Wide Heliar & viewfinder

Voigtlander 25mm f4 Snapshot Skopar & viewfinder

MS-Optical 28mm f4 Perar Tpirlet (SIC)

MS-Optical 35mm f3.5 Perar Triplet

MS-Optical 50mm f1.1 MS-Optical Sonnetar

Original Fuji film case

All in a Domke F-5XB.

The MS-Optical lenses are my favourite things ever and I don’t know how I ever lived without them. The film case is stuffed with Rollei Retro 80s, Ektar 100, and Tri-X.

I carry a medium format Fujica GW690 from time to time, but that doesn’t even come close to fitting in the bag, so it rides on its own strap.

Thanks for sharing your bag with us Anthony. I notice you are missing a couple of the MS lenses though…haha.
Check out the links and make sure you come and comment.

Keep them coming folks, we need more submissions, so get your bag on Japancamerahunter.com. Send me a hi resolution image of the bag (please make sure it is horizontal) and its contents, with some details about yourself and what you shoot. Oh and don’t forget your contact details (twitter, flickr, tumbler et al). Send the bag shots here.

Cheers

Great to see the Snapshot Skopar in there. It’s an oft overlooked lens. Very sharp, very convenient with those click stops on the focus.

Interesting you use an M3 too. Along with the M5 my favourite M. I don’t see a meter anywhere. Do you just estimate?

Great bag story today! One of my dreams is to find a nice Leica M3 DS with a serial number made in 1955, the year I was born. Don’t know how much film shooting I’d do but it would be a great find and one to pass down.

Anthony must be like a kid in a candy store having the chance to experiment with different camera gear. I too think its pretty cool he’d settle on an ancient camera to do his photography!

I went to your store last year in November. Nice store in the square market area. Not too many M-mount though I guess you kept them all for yourself haha Kidding. :)
