In your bag 343, Brent Trenholm
Hooray, about time we had a bag from Japan. We have not had one for a while now. Brent is in Tokyo too and he has a lovely little setup for us all to have a look at. Check it out.

Hey Bellamy,

My name’s Brent and I live, work, and shoot in and around the Tokyo area and sometimes in Yamanashi.  I shoot whatever crosses my eye, but you’ll notice from my flickr stream (www.flickr.com/lemonhats) that what usually crosses my eye is buildings / skylines, occasionally people, and often trees.

The bag I’ve been carrying around for the better part of a year now is a no-name B5-sized messenger bag which I picked up at a merchants gathering in Shinjuku.  You know the one, it shows up occasionally under the Keio department store.  I’ve been surprised by how sturdy it is, and it’s even served me as a pillow on at least one occasion (sans camera).  It’s nondescript and it forces me to travel light.  Included in the bag are:

1. Canonet QL-17 GIII – a real pleasure to use.

2. Muji notebook for recording ideas, thoughts, and where I’ve been / EXIF info.  Cheap and easy to find.

3. Cloth bag full of odds and sods: lense cloth, lens pen, lens fluid, lens paper, blower, spare battery…  You get the idea.

4. One extra roll of film – like I said, I like to travel light.

5. No-name B5 bag.  Cheap, durable, nondescript.

a) Joby 800 – small, light, and very useful at night.

b) Spirit level.  Fits into the hot shoe, useful with the Joby.

c) Cable release.  Also very useful at night, or to put people at their ease.

d) Crumpler Noose wrist strap.  I never used a neck strap, prefering to loop it around my wrist.  This just makes more sense.

* Off camera: mechanical pencil, Marumi filter wallet, iPhone 4 (for metering).

Love the site and very much enjoy looking what others are toting around.  Keep ‘em coming!

I can’t believe how heavy other people’s gear looks sometimes!

Thanks,

Brent.

PS If anyone in the greater Tokyo area is looking to get out and use some film, drop me a liine via flickr (www.flickr.com/lemonhats).

Thanks for sharing the bag with us Brent. I love the simplicity of your setup.
Check out Brent’s link and make sure you come and comment.

Keep them coming folks, we need more submissions, so get your bag on Japancamerahunter.com. Send me a hi resolution image of the bag (please make sure it is horizontal) and its contents, with some details about yourself and what you shoot. Oh and don’t forget your contact details (twitter, flickr, tumbler et al). Send the bag shots here.

Cheers
Japancamerahunter
